Star Productions Holds Auditions For

“BRAVO BROADWAY”
Due to the overwhelming success of last year’s regional production of “CABARET,” at Star Plaza Theatre, Star Productions is pleased to announce that it is embarking on its second, full scale regional presentation, entitled “BRAVO BROADWAY,” scheduled for June 19 at 8pm.

Charlie Blum, president and CEO of Star Plaza Theatre has announced area auditions for “BRAVO BROADWAY” for Sunday, April 4 from 2 to 5 pm at Merrillville's Star Plaza Theatre. Star Productions will be auditioning female dancers that sing (ages 16 and older), and children singers that dance (ages 6 and up) for various Broadway-style production numbers, as well as male and female adult singers (ages 18 and older) for the world premier of music from “Kisses, Bites and Scratches,” written by Steve Margoshes (composer of “FAME”) now in development for Broadway (with Mr. Margoshes himself expected to be in attendance at “BRAVO BROADWAY”).

Adults need to be prepared to sing 16-32 bars of any Broadway show tune, and children should be prepared to sing 16 bars of any song that best demonstrates their singing ability. A pianist will be provided.

“BRAVO BROADWAY” is a concert salute to the great Broadway musicals backed by the full NWI Symphony. The symphony will be under the direction of Rob Mikulski, currently music director and conductor of Broadway’s smash hit “AIDA.” Rob is returning to his hometown to conduct a single performance of “BRAVO BROADWAY.” Rob attended Lake Central High School in St. John, Indiana, also serving as music director for numerous Lake Central Theatre Guild (LCTG) productions, including “West Side Story,” “Hair” and “Little Shop of Horrors.” After studying at the American Conservatory of Music, Rob taught instrumental music at Reavis High School in Burbank, Illinois, and later served as the associate conductor of the Illini Symphony.orroHooo

Sammy attended Lake Central High School and also has a LCTG history that spans 32 years, appearing in over 50 productions. Her roles include the Narrator in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and Rhetta in “Pump Boys and Dinettes.” Sammy has two solo CDs to her credit and is currently working on an original adaptation of “Cinderella,” as well as developing the role of Sally in “Kisses, Bites and Scratches.”

"BRAVO BROADWAY” will also feature two production numbers choreographed by Lyn Knight, as well as songs from “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “The Lion King,” “Gypsy,” and “Funny Girl.”

Rehearsal schedule for ‘BRAVO BROADWAY” to be minimal and will be determined after auditions.
